The meteorological evaluation tower (MET), standing at 394 feet from ground surface, is collecting information like wind speed and direction that will allow us to select the best wind energy technology for the project. Construction of the MET began mid-October and data acquisition began by November 1st. In addition to the MET Tower, GPEP also installed a LiDAR unit that helps further the collection of meteorological data during the measurement campaign. The LiDAR was deployed in July, 2022, and is located alongside the MET while we calibrate the readings between the two. GPEP will then redeploy (move) the LiDAR to another location during the first part of 2023 to help gather additional meteorological data around the quad county area.
