GPEP is a combination of four renewable energy projects/phases currently under development in southern Sangamon, northern Montgomery, west central Christian, and northeastern Macoupin Counties.
Grand Prairie Wind (150 MW) is a wind project interconnecting to a substation in Sangamon County. Grand Prairie has a Generator Interconnection Agreement (GIA) between UKA, CWLP, and MISO. Virden Wind Energy (100 MW) is a hybrid project, meaning any combination up to 100 MW of wind, solar, and/or excess energy stored in a battery energy storage system (BESS), and is interconnecting in Macoupin County.
The interconnection application for the Virden project was filed with MISO in 2019 and we expect an executed GIA by early 2023. Pawnee Power (100 MW) is another hybrid project, interconnecting in Sangamon County, where the interconnection application was filed in 2021 and we expect the GIA executed in 2024 or 2025.
The newest project added to GPEP is a 100 MW standalone BESS project, Nebula Power, interconnecting in Sangamon County. The Nebula Power interconnection agreement was filed in 2022 and we expect the GIA executed in 2025 or 2026.
